The Classenske Fideicommis, which owns Fuglsang Herregaard, has created a unique centre for scientific immersion and exchange of ideas in full accordance with the old manor tradition.

The Classen Fideicommis aims to support science and education, among other things.

Operational support for Fuglsang Herregaard and the maintenance of the manor garden and recreational areas is an essential part of Fideicommiset's philanthropic activities. And now, with the help of several Danish foundations and Guldborgsund Municipality, Fideicommiset has created a unique centre for scientific immersion and exchange of ideas at Fuglsang Herregaard.

In this connection, agreements have been made with a number of universities and cultural institutions to use the manor as a retreat or to organise meetings, courses and conferences.

As part of the collaboration, the University of Copenhagen and Det Classenske Fideicommis have upgraded furniture, WIFI and AV equipment in the meeting rooms at Fuglsang Herregaard. The agreement includes the University of Copenhagen, University of Southern Denmark, Copenhagen Business School, RUC, the Art Academy and the Music Conservatory.

History

Fuglsang Herregaard dates back to the reign of Queen Margrethe I and was originally a crown estate.

In the early 1700s, however, it was bought by local landowner Poul Abraham Lehn, and it was his grandson who sold it in 1819 to the Neergaard family of Zealand landowners. And so began a new era in the history of the estate.

In 1866, Viggo de Neergaard inherited the estate and together with his somewhat younger wife, Bodil, he turned the estate into a retreat and creative workshop for a number of Denmark's greatest artists right into the 20th century.

When Bodil de Neergaard died in 1959, the Fideicommiset took over the manor and its operation in accordance with the provisions of Mrs Neergaard's will.
